Mechanical Engraving
Particularly cost effective for single items or short run repeats.
Quality of graphic reproduction in not as good as chemical etching, a deeper 'bite' into the material is possible, making the finish long lasting and robust.
Ideal for an external brass plate which need to be cleaned daily.

Chemical Etching
Produces photographic quality reproduction which cannot be matched by other engraving process.

Sand Blasting
Pressurised air process, in which grit or glass bead is directed at a pre-masked substrate to create an abraded or reverse abraded text, graphic or surface finish. End results can be spectacular especially on Stainless or Brass where the background treated leaves your text or graphic with a highly polished finish.

Care and Maintenance:
Once you have decided upon the material and process, you will want to ensure the sign
lasts for many years, it will, providing a few simple guidelines are followed for maintenance.
Brass: Normally lacquered for internal use, just clean with soapy water.   External is unlacquered which means that regular cleaning is essential. Care should be exercised to aviod polishing out the infill and use of abrasive cleaners.
Stainless Steel: Almost maintenance free, occasional polish with a dry cloth to remove finger marks or even the odd clean with hot soapy water.
Glass and Acrylics: Regular cleaning, and to avoid scratching use a soft cloth, preferably lint free, and a proprietary cleaning agent. For laminated glass ensure that the edge remains dry, this will prevent the panel joint deteriorating.
